Total Solar Eclipse on Sunday July 11th 2010

According to the NASA there would be a Total Solar Eclipse on Sunday, the July 11, 2010, begins at 17:10 hrs Universal Time and ends at 21:58 hrs. The maximum total duration of the total solar eclipse will be 5 minutes and 20 seconds. This is the 2nd total Solar Eclipse in 2010. This sort of an eclipse is happening after over 1000 years according to the astrologers where though it is a total eclipse it is not seen in majority of places. This would be visible in Southern Pacific Ocean regions, Tuamotu in French Polynesia, Mangaia (Cook Islands), Easter Island (Isla de Pascua) and Argentina, Chile in South America. This eclipse would not be visible in India.

The position of planets at the time of eclipse and its placement in the house creates an impact on us and last for almost 6 months. Since the eclipse falls in Gemini sign all individuals who have their Ascendant, Birth moon, Birth Sun in Gemini will be affected the most. The most affected would be those born under nakshatras Aadra, Punarvasu and Pushya. Keep a complete fast during the eclipse period and chant the mantras of your rasi graha apart from mantras like Gayatri Mantra, Ashtakshara Mantra, Mahamrityunjay Mantra is also chanted during eclipse. The strotras of Sun like Surya Kavach Strotra and Aditya Hridaya Strotram can also be chanted. A holy dip at sacred rivers on the day of eclipse is also auspicious.
